2 Essentials for Dry Winter Skin

Even with the humidity that Texans experience in the winter, my skin still feels dry. It's as if my skin feels as gloomy as the weather. BUT! I've found two products that zapped my dry skin woes.

I've touched briefly on the magical powers of this Murad Lightening Gel that has literally saved my skin. It does tend to dry out my skin a bit however, due to it's miraculous ingredients, there's no way I'm not going to use it. It's become a staple in my beauty routine. But no matter how alligator-y my skin is feeling, Korres 24-Hour Moisturizing & Brightening Cream dumps the moisture back into my skin and makes it feel like it's living again. I've never discovered a moisturizer that makes my skin feel so dewy 12 hours after I put it on more than this. It's a game changer.

And for the body, this EOS lotion is fab. Husband actually brought it home one fateful day and it's transforming my skin. I start to get tiny rashes on my hands and knees if I'm not careful but using a thick balm can get annoying. They take forever to warm into the skin and I hate the sticky feeling that remains afterward. EOS lotion immediately melts in my skin and relieves me of itchy, cracked skin. Can't say enough good things.

What are your favorite winter skincare products?

Buffalo Check Coat

Pants, similar | Shirt | Heels | Jacket, similar | Lips: LipstickLiner

I have had this coat a shockingly long time. Husband bought it for be seven years ago? Eight? Every winter it quickly comes to the front of the coat section in my closet. I'm obsessed with the buffalo check and love that despite its age, it's still so on trend. It's a bit oversized (though with a bump, not so much) and is great to layer over bulky sweaters. Thankfully the weather has finally cooled (some might even say it's cold here but pregnancy problems) so I was able to pull it out and wear it this week.

Mini Series: Denim Daze // The White Denim

Jacket, Kohls | Jeans, Marshalls | Black tank, Target | Sandals, Lucky | Sunshades, Cato, | Necklace, F21

White denim may be my favorite kind of denim. It has the same versatility of blue jeans but with a fresher feel. Summer, fall, winter, spring--white denim does not discriminate. Wear with a little white tank, light scarf and some strappy sandals and you've just thrown on the easiest summer outfit. Throw on a plaid shirt and some sweet booties (like these!) and you're #basic for fall. Winter whites are so beautiful so I love wearing heavy cream sweaters with white jeans. For spring, a chambray top and some nude heels and you've got a classic look that will never go out of style. Boom. I've just styled your white denim for year 'round.

See how easy that is? Tis is why I love them so.

Some things to consider. Find a heavier denim because white denim is often see-through. Not cute. It's also crucial to find a pair that fits well since white tends to show everything. And nobody wants to see how I over-indulged in chips and queso last night.

Minted

mint_and_black_outfit
As I was leaving for work, husband said "Bye, my little Junior Mint."  I chose to take that as a compliment.

I need spring and I need it bad. The sun hasn't showed it's big bright face in waaaaay too long. I need warm breezes and bare legs. But no, so alas I choose to add little bits of spring into my wardrobe. Like this mint skirt. You can't tell in these photos but this skirt has little tiny pleats that I'm kind of obsessed with. Most of all, it just makes me want to twirl because there's so much movement in it. I love how it blows in the wind and moves when I walk.

In my quest to find spring, husband and I are planning a weekend getaway. We're thinking beach. :)

This weekend was long and cold. Cold being the operative word. I recall saying how much I love the snow but with the snow comes the cold and THAT I can do without. I also realize that my wardrobe does not reflect cold weather living. Growing up in California, I thought a winter coat meant a wind breaker. I loved the fact that most days I could wear any style of shoe I wanted. Texas, while not quite as moderate, is similar in that the cold days are so few and far between that when they hit and I want to wear converse, I usually know that my toes will suffer. I hate socks and I love wearing flats. So cold is what I will be.

Also, a big thank you to husband this weekend who let me have some much needed alone time getting a manicure and doing some thrifting. #besthusband

SNOW day

Yesterday was our first REAL snow of the year. It snowed for a solid 8+ hours, ending my work day at 11 AM. Take that weekend! I called husband telling him I was on my way home and as I drove the 15 minute drive home, snow had accumulated dramatically. It just makes me so happy. The Jacobs love the snow. We live for it. Dallas doesn't get a lot of snow, maybe once or twice a year. Just enough for it to make me utterly giddy when it does.

I got home and husband and Liam were already outside prancing in the snow. As I pulled the car in, Liam was jumping up and down, smile wide on his blushed cheeks. I quickly went upstairs to throw on my boots and we spent the next hour walking around, enjoying the quiet that enveloped us. Soon enough, Liam was sick of the cold and shrieking, utter shrieking echoed from the ground to the sky.

Hate it, mom! Hate everything about this!

A quick change of clothes and a warm glass of milk later, we were on our way to pick up a few groceries. There was nothing special about the day, but just everything was. While Liam and husband napped, I snuck away to pick up absolutely nothing I need. Target, people, Target is my downfall. Went for Visine, left with a piggy bank (obviously THAT was a necessity), bananas, a beanie, a shirt for husband, and ground turkey. Forgot the Visine. But that piggy bank, good thing I got that.

^^^Despite my efforts to stop him, husband could not control his desire to do giant donuts. #andthentherewerecops

^^^his little baby snow prints. They just kill me. And his perfectly straight hands in his gloves. Apparently they're made of cement.^^^

^^^I'm now a wet, soggy mess after playing in the snow but I wouldn't have it any other way. My curled hair now looks like dreads. Supa cute.^^^
