Non-Maternity Skinny Jeans

These days, 98.7% of my closet is unusable in my current state. I MISS MY CLOTHES! I miss high-rise jeans that button, oxford shirts, seeing my feet, and heels that just don't fit swollen phalanges right now. I'm tired of flowy tees and side panel pants that don't seem to stay up.

The other day I was desperate for a bit of normalcy, to feel like myself again. I was on a rampage digging through my closet to find a pair of jeans that still fit. Low and behold, I put these on and I heard angels singing. I don't know why, don't know how, but somehow these babies fit.

Compromises

Sweater: F21 (old), similar | Jeans: H&M | Boots: Target | Necklace: Stella & Dot, c/o

Being pregnant is all about compromises.

Do I wear sneakers or flats? Flats because I can't bend over to tie my shoes.

Chocolate or ice cream? These days ice cream.

Jeans or leggings? Leggings because the thought of jeans makes me claustrophobic. When mobility is already limited, choose whatever has the most stretch.

Pee or lay in bed a little longer? Unfortunately the former always wins.

Make Liam breakfast or let him choose his own breakfast because he can get it himself? Well yesterday he had popcorn for breakfast so you decide. #momfail

Husband is also learning about compromises.

Hot, angry wife or get an extra blanket for his side of the bed? He learned this one quickly. Always choose to be cold for the sake of the wife.

Make dinner now or later? Always now because again, hangry wife.

Allow for wife and colossal size pregnancy pillow to overtake the bed or split the bed evenly? He selflessly takes one for the team. Poor guy. Sometimes I wake up and I'm diagonal, body pillow and all and he's huddled on the very edge of the bed. But he never says a word and always always always makes sure I'm comfortable. He's been such a dream boat these last few months.

Buffalo Check Coat

I have had this coat a shockingly long time. Husband bought it for be seven years ago? Eight? Every winter it quickly comes to the front of the coat section in my closet. I'm obsessed with the buffalo check and love that despite its age, it's still so on trend. It's a bit oversized (though with a bump, not so much) and is great to layer over bulky sweaters. Thankfully the weather has finally cooled (some might even say it's cold here but pregnancy problems) so I was able to pull it out and wear it this week.

All that flutters

It was on this day that the little flutters that only I can feel became the little kicks that the boys can feel and be included in too. While there's nothing like feeling your little bebe, nothing is comparable to husband feeling them for the first time. His excitement, the look on his face, the little squeals (ssh, don't tell him I said that)--he's just so incredulous.

One of my favorite things about this little blog of mine is that I can document sweet moments like this. It's been wonderful looking back at big and little moments in our lives and having a permanent memory bank. Pretty nice. ☺️

When a problem comes along, you must stripe it. Stripe it good.

Fairly certain that's how the song goes. Maybe not. But it definitely rings true in my own life! Stripes are my little secret weapon when I just don't know what to wear. My favorite Zara jeans that are seriously the most comfy pair of jeans in this life are also a no-brainer. WINNING COMBO. Messy hair, a comfy pair of booties, and a red lip and I'm out!

Weekend Uniform // No. 2

The other night having drinks with friends, we chatted sitting around a table answering "First Date" questions. You know the ones: "If you were an animal what would you be?" Or "What beverage most describes you?" It was fun to learn more about each other and I seriously laughed so so hard.

"Where would you live if you couldn't live where you currently live or where you're from?"

Since I can't choose Dallas or Monterey, CA I'd say Denver, CO. Nothing beats the view of the Rockies and I miss my besties that live there. 

"If Pandora were playing, what station would it be on?"

Eric Church, Creedence Clearwater Revival or Head and the Heart. I mean seriously, so so good for any mood I'm in.

"What's your spouse's favorite movie and have you seen it?"

Gone in 60 Seconds and nope, haven't seen it. Don't judge me; my friends already do.

"What artist would you love to see in concert (dead or alive) and which one would you never ever go to?"

Keith Urban because he literally does not have a bad song. Will never never ever go to a reggae concert.

"What movie do you have to watch if it's on tv but you're embarrassed to admit? 

Stomp the Yard. It's just so good. Also a talent I would love to have. I mean....the skiiiiillz.
