Lipstick Challenge: Week Four

I love lipstick and pretty much wear a shade every day. So for the next thirty days (minus Saturdays), I challenged myself to try a new color every day. Here is my diary thus far: Week one, week two, week three here.

Revlon lipstick - Fire and Ice - This was one of the first red lipsticks I ever bought. I like it but it's not one I usually reach for. I do love the bold color but I like orange undertones and this just doesn't bring out my features like other red tubes I've tried.

Maybelline - One the Mauve -  This color is blah. Although husband actually really liked this and complimented by makeup this day I hate the smell, feel like it washes me out, and I have to put on like seven coats. I like the name though! :)

Burt's Bees - Pink Blossom - Literally a chapstick with color. Easy and done which is perfection to me. I've always been a fan of Burt's Bees anything and this one did not disappoint.

Wet n Wild - Purty Persimmon - Oddly enough, out of all the lipsticks I tried this month this one is my favorite. I'm OBSESSED with the color, makes my eyes bluer than blue and just looks absolutely amazing. It has great staying power and the pigment is on point. It is a bit chalky so I definitely have to apply chapstick with it. And hi, it's like $2.

L'Oreal Color Juice Lip Gloss - Cherry on Top - I've had this one for ages and always forget about it. It's okay. Not horrible, not great. The color is pretty but the longevity is cruddy.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss - Pink Pop - I have several colors of this stuff and I adore it. I love the pigment and love that it's not sticky. Super easy, which clearly is something I love. Longevity is next to nothing but it's easy to reapply without a whole lot of precision needed.

Lipstick Challenge: Week Three

I love lipstick and pretty much wear a shade every day. So for the next thirty days (minus Saturdays), I challenged myself to try a new color every day. Here is my diary thus far: Week One and Week Two here:

1. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick - Pink Cloud - This color is super bubblegummy in the tube but suuuuper sheer on the lips. Kinda disappointed with it. I was so excited about it and I was expecting more from it. It's not that buildable and the color pay off is weak. I love Revlon lipsticks but this one wasn't a fav. I did like how creamy it went on though.

2. Wet n Wild MegaLast Lip Color - 912C - I've had this for a while and just kinda forgot about it. Mostly because it semi-melted in my purse and I just didn't like the way it looked in the tube. But then I put it on and fell in love with it. It's darker than my natural lip color and still looks natural. This one is definitely going back into my rotation. Despite how it looks.

3. NYC Expert Last - Blue Rose - Very purpley pink. With a pearly nature. Hahaha sounds so weird. I actually really love it. Definitely a different color than what I would typically reach for but I do like it. I was wearing it in this outfit post.

4. Covergirl Lipslicks Smoochies Lip Balm - Luv U 215 - Try saying that name ten times fast. Like I mentioned in this post, I fell in love with the first one I bought. So much that I bought this one. Not a chapstick, not a lipstick which is the perfect combination in my opinion. I added a clear gloss on top for a little extra "umph" but I seriously love this stuff. Perfect for vacation. Throw it in your bag and it's all you need.

5. Lorac Lip Lustre Gloss - Peach Lustre - Actually a lipgloss I got during the holidays and when I first opened it I was disappointed with the applicator. It's so small and squishy. {that's what she said}. But after a few wears, it started to grow on me a little. It's super nude but with a pink tint so it doesn't completely wash me out. Like it, but don't love it. My mom gave me a Forever 21 lip gloss that is super similar which I find I turn to a lot more and it was considerably cheaper.

6. Wet n Wild MegaLast Lip Color - 901B - To me, this is something that I would wear every day and become my signature color. The one I buy time after time. The lipstick that doesn't look like you're wearing lipstick but still looks like...something. You know? Ya, you know.

Lipstick Challenge: Week Two

I love lipstick and pretty much wear a shade every day. So for the next thirty days (minus Saturdays), I challenged myself to try a new color every day. Here is my diary thus far: Week One here.

1. NARS - Heat Wave - This is a total cult classic and I see why but I never like to buy lipstick that is super popular. It's probably some form of rebellion rearing his head now than at 15. It's the same with popular movies. That's why I still haven't seen Titanic. I'm 28 years old and still haven't heard "My Heart Will Go On" in it's original form. But this shade is so perfect a red. It's literally perfect. I never had to reapply it once. Not even after eating lunch! A-mazing. Totally worth losing the rebellion for this stuff. Got compliments from co-workers too!

2. Smashbox Pout (came in their Be Legend lip gloss set) and NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Ibiza - Saturdays I keep things easy and low key. Minimal face, stroke of mascara, and a simple lip. I used the Smashbox lip gloss first thinking I was going to go for something a little more nude but it washed me out. This NYX matte lip butter added the right amount of color that gives the perfect pout. Staying power was horrible, however.

 3. Wet n Wild MegaLast Liquid Lip Color - I Can Bare It - I'm gonna throw it out there, brown is not a color I generally reach for on my lips. I don't hate it, don't love it. I tried doing a light coat and it looked like I got a little carried away with a Snickers bar. It was all or nothing. It is super dry which drives me crazy. It goes on with the illusion it's going to be more like a gloss and two minutes later your lips are peeling. Chapstick not optional with this crud.

4. Milani - Rose Hip - I have a few Milani products in my makeup collection (love their baked blushes!) but have never tried their lipstick. I'm seriously in love with this color. Love how vibrant it is and it's so incredibly creamy. It's a bit brighter than I normally go for, but that's kinda why I love it so much. This will definitely be in heavy rotation for spring and summer.

5. Nyx - Tea Rose - Nyx lip products are just the best. Love that it's a super pigmented gloss that's not sticky. I hate sticky lip gloss. I'm always getting my hair stuck in it and then my hair feels sticky for the rest of the day and it's just annoying. You ladies feel me? But this isn't like that. It's so easy to apply, doesn't require a ton of precision which is perfect for me. On days I wear my glasses and am keeping my eyes simple but don't want to wear too bold a lip, I'll often reach for this. I love it. Just the perfect punch.

Lipstick Challenge: Week One

I love lipstick and pretty much wear a shade every day. So for the next thirty days (minus Saturdays), I challenged myself to try a new color every day. Here is my diary thus far:

1. Covergirl - Honeyed - This is a really subtle pink which is perfect for every day. More days than not, you'll find me wearing this. It's super natural looking and adds just the tiniest bit of color to my lips.

2.  Nars - Cruella - If you're looking for a serious lip, this is your color. Definitely not an every day red but I love how vampy it is. But it did make me feel a LOT cooler than I am. Another added bonus, it lasted allllllll day and I didn't have to touch up. This literally never happens. Plus the applicator is like a crayon and makes applying it a dream. Bonus: makes your teeth look super white.

3.  Revlon - Primrose - If I could wear one lipstick for the rest of my life, this would be it. This is a bit more pink than Honeyed. It has more of a cool undertone and I love how it popped against my skintone. Not too bright, but just enough to make me feel perfectly pulled together.

 4. Maybelline Baby Lips - Pink Punch - My favorite part about this is that it works like chapstick, but provides color like a lipstick. Sometimes a little too much color. It was rainy and dreary the day I wore it and I liked the extra punch it gave me. See what I did there? So punny. Husband likes when I wear it too...he always compliments my makeup so extra points for this little guy.

5. Nars - Dolce Vita - This color is so Kylie Jenner. It's pretty similar to my natural lip color and doesn't scream I'M WEARING LIPSTICK. Again, the tube is awesome and helps to keep everything "in the lines." Bonus: got several compliments from strangers even!

6. Covergirl Lip Balm - Smooch - Without a doubt, I wear this the most often. Like Baby Lips, it's more like a chapstick. These days, my lips are so dry and cracked (thank you, winter!) that I prefer a lip balm over lipstick. Lipstick always dries out my lips even more and I certainly don't need that. I love the pepto bismol color it has. I also bought a darker, more mauvey color I liked this stuff so much. Great for travel!

After seeing these pictures, note to self: Try more daring shades. Wear less black.
