To My Sons

Robe: Pink Blush Maternity, c/o

I have loved your father for nine years and we've been friends for twenty. He's been a part of my life more than he has not. We have quite the story, him and I, that one day we'll sit down and share with you.

I can't help but think God knew the world needed more men like him and that's why He gave us two. Our story began when we were ten. Kids who enjoyed petty conversation over McDonalds nuggets or a Starbucks latte. When he told me he loved me and that he always would. We loved deeply as oceans and continents separated us. Dozens of flights, countless emails and phone calls sealed our love and then we wed amongst the ocean breeze.

Him and I and also you.

I have many hopes for you both.

My greatest hope that you come to know His redeeming love, the power of His grace and that you grow in His wisdom. I pray you love deeply, caring about this broken world and all its people. I hope you are kind and compassionate, full of grace and humility. The world changes when we love, really love, those who are in it. Don't be selfish and please don't be safe. I beg of you. Love is uncomfortable but it's simple 1 Cor. 13:4-8.

Find someone who ignites your self-worth. Be the kind of man who is patient, forgiving, and apologetic. Display these often. Who doesn't belittle, who encourages his wife to be strong and courageous. Who sees her worth and capabilities. Be the man who calls her out but doesn't use her flaws against her.

Compassion. Grace. Gentleness. Self-control.

Love someone who stands behind you. Who gives you a standing ovation for small victories. Someone who is willing to move mountains and stand in the valleys with you. Love someone who is courageous and makes you brave. Love someone that makes you better. Find a partner who respects you. And most importantly, someone who has surrendered to His free gift.

Love each other hard. Unconditionally. Unprovoked. Selflessly. Dangerously.

Marry your best friend. Someone you want to stay in the room with. Who boasts with pride when spoken of you. Laugh together. The kind of laughter that makes your belly ache and your cheeks sore. Be silly together. Enjoy the little moments like conversations over McDonalds nuggets and a Starbucks latte.

I do not say these things lightly. I know them to be true. For I found them in your daddy.

Little Letters: Christmas Edition

Dear Christmas lights, I love how much you've popped up all over town. And I love how much Liam loves you. He's found the Christmas tree switch and you better believe you are shining bright all the time (colored lights only please). It's especially funny when they switch from white to colored.

Dear plaid jammies, thank you. Thank you for being so comfortable and so dang Christmasy. I'm never taking you off.

Dear Gilmore Girls, you've given me ALL THE FEELS. I've waited so long to hear those four words and though it seems this is how you should end, I just don't know how I feel about it. Something isn't sitting well. TV shows, man. Emotional roller coaster.

Dear Liam, YOU ARE A CHRISTMAS LOVER! My work is done. Thank you for being my partner for Christmas ornaments DIYs, belting carols, and for sitting and staring at the Christmas tree. Never grow out of this.

Holiday Gift Guide: Baby Must-Haves

The holidays are rapidly approaching (must faster than I am ready for!) and I'm so excited because this year there is another little bambino to think about! Since I'm not a new mom, I definitely have some favorite baby must-haves. Whether you're a new mom or know of one, these are the products I can't live without!

This post is in partnership with Baby Cubby, a curated baby store that has everything you need for parenthood all in one spot. This team, made up of parents, finds the best and safest baby gear by spending hundreds of hours finding the best products out there so you don't have to. They price match, even with Amazon, and offer free shipping over $49. Check 'em out!

  • 4Moms MamaRoo: This is on the top of our list to get for baby #2. Liam lived in his seat for the first year (even loved to sleep in it) but it was a hand-me-down and outdated and eventually gave out on us. If this new little one is anything like brother or mama, he will like to move and bounce A LOT and I know this will be perfect. I love that is designed to move like we do, batteries AREN'T required and you can control it from your smart phone.
  • Bandana Bibs: For eating or drooling, bibs are a must! Liam went through several bibs (and outfits) a day due to drool. I love that these are super soft and absorbent and are much cuter than your average bib.
  • Bumbo Floor Seat: Total lifesaver for a mama! Super durable and easy to transport. I loved taking this to the lake with us when Liam was a baby. Prevented him from getting too sandy and he loved sitting up and observing everything. Definite mom fav.
  • Moccasins: Babies are notorious for kicking off shoes and losing them. I can't tell you how many shoes I've lost in the aisles of Target without realizing it. Lesson learned: stick to moccasins. They never fall off and are super comfy for your little one.
  • Petunia Pickle Bottom Diaper Bag: You learn a lot about what you want/need after your first baby. I got this ginormous diaper bag when I had Liam. While it was great for carrying everything I could ever want in it, it was so annoying to carry around and it was so heavy! This time I'll be investing in a backpack so I'll be hands free. (If you aren't particular about a backpack, this Oemi diaper bag could also double as a purse. More bang for your buck. :)
  • Swaddle Blankets: Bigger is better! Most babies love being swaddled the first few months. I quickly learned that not all blankets are created equal. Get extra large blankets so your baby doesn't wiggle out of them.
  • ErgoBaby Carrier: Whichever your preferred sling or carrier, this is a total necessity. I could clean the house, do dishes, errands, all while Liam was sound asleep. With baby #2, I know I will rely on it more heavily.
  • Little Kid Backpack: Because I will no longer have enough hands to carry a baby AND Liam's trinkets around.
That's it--my absolute favorite baby must-haves! If you have any questions, feel free to email me or comment below.

The list doesn't stop there! A few more products that would make great gifts:

Halloween: Firefighter and Cat Edition

Dress: Pink Blush Maternity c/o | Flats: Clarks

What is the day after Halloween without a good ol' fashioned photo dump? You may not enjoy these as much as I do. I can't help but see a little boy so excited to be a fireman, who walked proudly proclaiming he was LIAM THE FIREFIGHTER! and respecter of the badge. By the end of the night, the walkie talkie and hat had long been gone but that badge, that MUST remain in place.

Twas a good night full of soon to be cavities, swollen ankles (!) and "next year we'll have another little." Bring it on, November.

Hi friends! Hope you had a lovely Father's Day. Thomas woke up requesting donuts so donuts we got, went to church, and then the man wanted pizza, beer and a nap. It was a total man's day and it was delightful. The three of us had been in the sun all day the day before and were exhausted and burnt. It was a an ideal family day.

In other news, happy first day of summer! This Madewell sweater is ironically perfect, even in the heat. I got it oversized and am obsessed with it. It's a quality knit without being too heavy. Hurry, it's on sale for $40!

Krista
