Over the weekend, my husband and I were feeling all the Fall cozy feelings. It was drizzly outside and somewhat chilly, the house just smelled like October, and I had the itch to do something festive. I thought a scavenger hunt in the rain might be kinda fun, collecting Fallish items and splashing in puddles. I quickly made a list of items for us to find and we drove out to a wooded trail that goes through town. It was early on Saturday morning so it was still quiet and peaceful and the rain made everything glisten.
We sang nursery rhymes as we walked and Liam had a huge smile on his face. He was so happy. He's always been great at finding things so the orange and green leaves, stick, and rock were simple for him to find. His eyes were peeled as we encouraged him to find a squirrel and when he did, "I found dit!!!" Pure elation. He also saw his first snake which he was fascinated with and I thoroughly creeped out.
We walked about two miles before his little legs gave out. On the walk back, the rain started really coming down and it was glorious. Back to the car, our hair and clothes wet, we drove to a nearby Michaels to find an afternoon craft but when we got back home, little guy was exhausted and napped for over three hours.
It was such a fun Fall Saturday as a family and an easy way to celebrate the season.
