What you don't see is the cloud of humidity hovering over us, causing mass amounts of hair to act as a blanket. Oh, the sweating that day.

What you don't see is a new purple ball, carefully selected at a garage sale that morn. It was this ball or a wooden mallard. It was decided that the mallard does not talk back, so the ball it was! Wise choice, young lad.

What you don't see is the tears of laughter trying to jump whilst holding Liam. So awkward. So funny. So wishing there was video. There is this though.

What you don't see is the rain that had begun to fall. A light, quiet rain that blanketed the grass creating little crystals.

What you don't see is a balloon festival that was missed due to said rain. This is an annual tradition for us to wake up to watch the sunrise and take coffee and donuts to our little hill and watch the balloons take off. It's pretty magical. You can see last year's pictures here.

What you don't see is that even though the entire day didn't go as planned, somehow it was still wonderful. For without the rain, I would have missed the chance to hang with my boys on a railroad track. I would've missed conversations with a two year old about "trainos" and I would've missed the early morning Walmart excursion getting potty training bribes (bonus for potty training in the Fall: CANDY CORN) and baby boy costumes. And without that Walmart trip, we would not have had our first true success of potty training. (If you're a potty training mama, I've come to realize that this potty seat is so much better than this potty chair because then you get to be like Daddy.)
