Year of Dates: January

Since having Liam, it's been harder to get out for date nights so for Christmas I gave husband a year of dates. They are already planned and ready to go, all he needs to do is pick the date. I gave him 13 envelopes: 12 for each month and 1 to explain what the concept is. One date is at home, one is away. Some are as a family, some are not but hopefully it gives us a chance twice a month to make a conscious effort to make time for each other and explore Dallas a bit. Each month has a theme usually relating to that month's goings on. January's theme is Art, for no reason other than that was the first thing I thought of.
This month kinda got away from us and we definitely did this in February but we have a whole year to better plan. :)
The at home date was to create a piece of art, me doing one half, him the other. Liam wanted to be a part of it so we waited to put him to bed for the first twenty minutes so he could color with us. Soon he realized that markers are not nearly as fun as the paint we were using and he got mad and we sent him to bed. haha poor guy.

The finished product. We are clearly artists. I did the yellow half, husband did the colorful portion. I don't take my husband for the "peace sign" makin' kinda man and turns out he's not. That's supposed to be a water feature coming down from the sun. And he made volcanoes. He has an entire explanation for what each part is and I die laughing every time. It's very scientific. I did not go that route. Not one bit. I initially picked like colors (more yellow tones) and husband decided it needed more and he incorporated red.

In reality, the canvas is hideous. hahahaha but we had so much fun and will be hanging it in Liam's room. Excited for February's dates!
