As I get further along in my pregnancy, I've been enjoying emphasizing my bump but not always loving the look from behind. While the lady lumps are real and I've come to terms with them, I'm a little less thrilled about how real the derriere is. Winter is an ideal time to be pregnant because layers are everything, especially in Texas.  Last Friday was our coldest day in two years with the wind chill in the low 20s; Sunday was 70 degrees. Get your act together, Texas.

I just purchased this sleeveless blazer knowing it would allow me to emphasize the bump, hide the behind, and keep my fluctuating temps in check. More importantly, I can wear it with a multitude of outfits from dresses to jeans, during and post pregnancy.

Buffalo Check Coat

I have had this coat a shockingly long time. Husband bought it for be seven years ago? Eight? Every winter it quickly comes to the front of the coat section in my closet. I'm obsessed with the buffalo check and love that despite its age, it's still so on trend. It's a bit oversized (though with a bump, not so much) and is great to layer over bulky sweaters. Thankfully the weather has finally cooled (some might even say it's cold here but pregnancy problems) so I was able to pull it out and wear it this week.

Being pregnant has taught me one thing: elastic waist bands can solve a multitude of issues. You always hear about the hair tie trick to put off wearing those dreaded maternity pants. But they don't tell you how much it presses into your belly and by the ninth hour the hair tie has been removed and you're just sitting there with your pants undone. 😳

Casual Work Outfit

I know I've said it before, but I live for basic outfits: jeans, t-shirt, and messy hair. On weekends, the dress pants are traded for cut-off shorts or boyfriend jeans, but during the work week, this is it. I may add a denim jacket, moto jacket, or blazer on top but the formula is the same. Accessories are not always my thing, but I can always stand behind a silk scarf. It's like a statement necklace, but cooler. :)

This is my work uniform: my favorite slacks, button-up, and comfy pointed flats. If you work the 9-5, you know the struggle to find chic work outfits that don't fit into the frumpy category. I have about 45 minutes to get myself and a three year old ready and out the door. It doesn't leave much time, but I know what works for me, and I stick to it. Like I mentioned in this post about creating a versatile wardrobe, create your closet built around classic staples and you can mix and match with a multitude of options with no thought.

For me, the struggle is real when it comes to finding long pants and if I do they're still usually never long enough to wear with heels so I stick to anything cropped. From there I can go a million directions but it helps to have a starting point. They're my absolute favorite type of pant so I've collected quite a few (like this Old Navy pair) in my closet.

I can pick the overall look I'm going for depending on the shoe I wear. Do I want a classic pump with a muscle tee for a boyish vibe? Maybe a pointed flat with a button up or a stappy sandal with a flowy top. Whichever shoe I reach for determines the overall tone of my look.

I stick to the same minimal jewelry every day (my favorite Stella & Dot necklace and this honeycomb necklace) so I'm accessorized but not overdoing it.

Staying Cozy with thredUP

We had a storm roll through over the weekend and the rain made us want to stay in all day. Luckily it paused for us to take Liam trick-or-treating with my in-laws but we spent most of the weekend cuddled up and staying cozy. When I'm lounging around the house, I love to keep a few candles lit and throw on some comfy clothes. During the cooler months, it's a pair of sweatpants, cozy knit, and always always coffee in hand.

If you've been around this blog a while, you know I'm obsessed with thrifting. I've even done a Nifty Thrifty series. I love the hunt and have scored so many great pieces for a fraction of the price. One of the beauties of blogging is you're introduced to so many great brands and resources. I recently came across thredUP and fell in love with it. It is the largest online consignment store with SO MANY good deals and you can buy and sell clothes. They offer 90% off retail which is amazing! I've been on the hunt for cozy sweaters and they have an incredible selection of amazing brands, even designer, many with the original tags still on. I received several pieces that have never been worn!

Obviously most days I'm at work but don't want to sacrifice being cozy and comfortable. I found this amazing LOFT fur vest on thredUP and am excited to layer it with so many things. Husband wore shorts to church on Sunday and was freezing (duh, it was raining. I never understand the man) and I wore this vest under a long sleeved tee and he kept cuddling up to me saying he wished he had a fur vest. Haha I might question his manhood BUT I was so comfortable and warm all day, despite the rain and wind.

With winter coming up, and now for those of you who live in colder climates, they have great affordable options for heavy coats that won't cost you an arm and a leg.
